Google Cloud Joins Polygon as a Validator, Boosting Network Security
Recently, Polygon, a well-known layer-2 Ethereum network, added Google Cloud as a validator, bolstering network security. This calculated action improves the network’s security, governance, and decentralization by utilizing the infrastructure that drives internet behemoths like YouTube and Gmail.
Verification by Tech Giants
The company that created the Polygon network, Polygon Labs, declared on September 29 that Google Cloud had joined the Polygon proof-of-stake (PoS) network as a validator. This project is a result of Google Cloud and Polygon Labs’ continuing strategic partnership.
As a validator on the Polygon PoS network, Google Cloud’s responsibilities include confirming transactions and guaranteeing the security and stability of the network. This update strengthens the Polygon network’s position as a dependable and strong layer-2 Ethereum solution.
Expanding Validator Network
With more than 100 participants contributing to the security and decentralization of the Polygon network, Google Cloud now joins an amazing list of validators. Notable organizations like Deutsche Telekom, one of the biggest telecommunications firms in Europe, also contribute to network security, even though some validators choose to remain anonymous.
Polygon’s Continual Development
Google Cloud and Polygon Labs’ partnership is in line with the larger goal of developing Web3 technology. With the goal of improving the capabilities of the Polygon network, Polygon Labs recently unveiled the “Polygon 2.0” program. The program presents important Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs) in its current “Phase 0,” which includes PIPs 17–19.
PIPs 18 and 19 deal with the technical details of POL and improvements to the gas token, while PIP 17 is slated to switch from the MATIC token to the new POL token. With the release of these updates in the fourth quarter of 2023, the network is demonstrating its dedication to innovation and ongoing development.
In addition to demonstrating the network’s dependability, Google Cloud’s involvement as a validator is a positive move toward the advancement of Web3 technologies in the future. This partnership highlights the growing importance of blockchain networks and their compatibility with leading cloud computing and technology companies.
