The Sandbox Secures $20 Million in Funding at $1 Billion Valuation

The Sandbox, a leading platform focused on user-generated content in the metaverse, has successfully raised $20 million through a convertible debt offering. This funding round places the company’s valuation at an impressive $1 billion.

Key Investors and Strategic Partners

The funding was co-led by Kingsway Capital and Animoca Brands, with additional support from LG Tech Ventures and True Global Ventures. The convertible note allows investors to convert their debt into equity under the same terms as existing preference shares in Bacasable Global Limited, The Sandbox’s parent company.

Enhancing User Experiences and Tools

The Sandbox plans to use the new funds to enhance its platform and ecosystem. Key initiatives include updates to its Game Maker and VoxEdit 3D editor tools. Additionally, the company aims to introduce new social interactions for avatars and expand gameplay through a new multiplayer rules system, expected to enter Beta later this year and be available to the public in 2025.
