McDonald’s has recently unveiled a new metaverse experience called “My Happy Place” for its customers in Singapore. This virtual environment offers a variety of interactive activities and rewards, particularly catering to holders of Grimace NFTs. The initiative follows McDonald’s Hong Kong’s 2023 launch of McNuggets Land in The Sandbox, signaling a continued interest in digital innovation within the fast-food giant.
Partnering with Bandwagon Labs for a Unique Experience
Developed in collaboration with Bandwagon Labs, “My Happy Place” leverages Bandwagon’s BW.LAND technology. Accessible through the McDonald’s Singapore app, this 3D environment provides users with an immersive experience where they can engage in various fun activities and games.
In “My Happy Place,” users can enjoy playing the Build-A-Burger game, participate in designing future McDonald’s restaurants, and engage in daily contests via the Wheel of Deals. These contests offer real-life food deals and prizes, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds.
Elevating The McDonald’s Experience
Drina Chee, Senior Director of Marketing & Digital Customer Experience at McDonald’s Singapore, expressed her excitement about the launch. “We’re excited to launch McDonald’s Singapore’s first digital experience. Our customers can dress their avatars in McDonald’s outfits, design their dream restaurant, and win daily phygital rewards, elevating how they experience McDonald’s,” said Chee.
In 2023, McDonald’s Singapore, in partnership with Bandwagon Labs, released 2,000 Grimace NFTs. These non-transferable, “soulbound” tokens were minted on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon and distributed for free through the McDonald’s app. Grimace NFT holders enjoy unique perks in “My Happy Place.”
Exclusive Perks for Grimace NFT Holders
Grimace NFT owners gain access to exclusive in-game items, a secret island, and the ability to display Grimace-themed artwork in the Restaurant of the Future within the metaverse. These special features add an extra layer of engagement and reward for the NFT holders, enhancing their overall experience.
