NFT Artist Jeremy Ryan Sues X Corp for Account Suspension and Business Losses

Allegations Against X Corp

Ryan’s lawsuit claims that X Corp suspended his seven accounts without providing a valid reason or explanation. He argues that this action violated the platform’s own policies and severely impacted his ability to promote and sell his NFT art.

Ryan asserts that his primary source of income was tied to his presence on X. The suspension of his accounts has not only disrupted his current earnings but also potential future profits. His artwork, which has gained support from celebrities like John Cena and Snoop Dogg, is predominantly featured on the Binance Smart Chain.

The lawsuit criticizes X’s content moderation as “inconsistent and arbitrary.” Ryan highlights that despite submitting 13 appeals regarding his suspension, he received no response. The suit also mentions a broader pattern of X suspending cryptocurrency and NFT-related accounts without clear justification.

Legal Claims

Ryan has filed eight legal claims against X Corp, including:

  • Breach of contract
  • Unjust enrichment
  • Promissory fraud
  • False advertising
  • Unfair business practices

He is seeking damages exceeding $75,000 and a trial by jury.

Musk’s Free Speech Statements Contradicted

The lawsuit references several statements made by Elon Musk about the importance of free speech and user rights on X. Ryan argues that the platform’s actions against him contradict these publicly stated values.

Jeremy Ryan’s lawsuit against X Corp highlights significant concerns about content moderation and the treatment of NFT and cryptocurrency-related accounts on the platform. As the case progresses, it may shed light on the responsibilities of social media companies towards their users and the consistency of their policies.
