Samsung and Illuvium Team Up in Latest Web3 Initiative

Samsung is stepping up its game in the world of Web3, forming a strategic partnership with Illuvium, a popular blockchain-based game. This collaboration is part of Samsung’s broader push to integrate Web3 technologies into its consumer electronics, particularly through its latest line of Web3-enabled televisions.

Illuvium NFTs Come to Samsung Web3 TVs

The highlight of this partnership is the integration of Illuvium’s NFTs (non-fungible tokens) into Samsung’s Web3 TVs. These NFTs represent various in-game assets from Illuvium’s ecosystem, such as weapons, characters (Illuvials), and suits from its trio of interconnected games—Overworld, Arena, and Zero. Now, users can showcase these digital collectibles on their Samsung TVs, transforming their living rooms into immersive art galleries.

Illuvium praised this collaboration as a step toward a new era of digital convergence. “This integration brings digital art to life on the big screen with stunning clarity, transforming the home TV into an immersive art display and pushing the boundaries of home entertainment,” the company stated.

Samsung’s Web3 Presence at Gamescom 2024

Samsung plans to make a splash at the upcoming Gamescom convention in Sydney later this month, where it will officially announce its partnership with Illuvium. Illuvium will feature prominently in Samsung’s booth, offering attendees the chance to experience its games firsthand.

In addition to demos of Illuvium’s three games, participants at Gamescom will have the opportunity to win exclusive prizes. Samsung is offering 10 GEN3RATOR NFTs as giveaways, with special perks for users who hold both GEN3RATOR and Samsung Gen3 Chip NFTs. These holders will gain access to 2,000 digital artworks from partnered projects.

Rising Popularity of Illuvium and Its Token

Following the announcement, Illuvium’s native token, ILV, saw a 10% increase in value over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. This surge reflects growing enthusiasm for the game and its new partnership with Samsung, which could potentially bring Illuvium into the homes of millions of new users.

Samsung’s venture into Web3 began in 2019 with the launch of the Samsung Blockchain Wallet App, followed by the Samsung Blockchain Platform SDK for Ethereum-based applications. In May 2022, Samsung introduced Web3 applications for its smart TVs, enabling users to browse, purchase, and view NFTs directly from their televisions.

This year, Samsung rolled out its Web3 TV bundle, GEN3GATE, which includes a Ledger Nano X with limited edition packaging and a GEN3RATOR NFT. These NFTs are designed to unlock exclusive features and experiences as part of Samsung’s evolving Web3 roadmap.

Building a Network of Web3 Partnerships

Samsung has established a strong network of partnerships within the Web3 space, including collaborations with the World of Women NFT collection, Polygon (an Ethereum scaling solution), and Austria’s Belvedere Museum. According to Sven Greier, vice president of TV/AV at Samsung Electronics GmbH, the company aims to make Web3 experiences accessible to everyone through these partnerships.

“Our approach is designed to make diverse Web3 experiences easily accessible to everyone,” Greier said. “Together with our selected partners, we offer our customers a simple way to participate in various Web3 experiences.”

As Samsung continues to explore the possibilities of Web3 technology, its partnership with Illuvium marks a significant step in bringing blockchain-based entertainment to mainstream consumers.
