Samsung Temporarily Bans Use of AI Chatbot by Employees
After discovering that its employees were abusing generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Samsung temporarily restricted their access. Tuesday, the South Korean technology giant verified to CNBC that it is restricting the use of generative AI on the company’s personal computers.
Samsung has instructed its employees to exercise caution when utilizing ChatGPT and other generative AI products outside the workplace. Additionally, employees have been warned not to input personal or company-related information into these services.
Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that certain Samsung employees had uploaded sensitive code to ChatGPT. In response, Samsung has decided to take a proactive stance and restrict the use of generative AI tools until it can guarantee their secure and appropriate application by employees.
In recent years, generative AI tools such as ChatGPT have garnered popularity for their ability to generate text that imitates human speech patterns. However, their use has raised privacy and security concerns. Samsung’s decision to restrict the use of these tools demonstrates the significance of responsible AI usage and the need for clear protocols governing their application.
