TADA Launches Telegram Mini App for Ride-Hailing Payments in Cryptocurrency
Southeast Asian ride-hailing service, TADA, has taken a bold step in integrating Web3 technology by launching a mini app on Telegram. This collaboration with the TON Foundation enables users to book rides directly within the messaging platform and make payments using Toncoin or USDT on the TON blockchain.
This new feature is available in several countries across Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. According to James Yang, CIO of MVL, the parent company of TADA, the service is set to expand to new regions soon, with a focus on benefiting both riders and drivers through innovative technologies.
Airdrop Season Causes Concern for TON Developers
While TADA’s partnership with TON seeks to drive Web3 adoption, TON developers are raising concerns over potential network disruptions. Airdrop promotions from popular tap-to-earn games, such as Hamster Kombat and Catizen, are expected to place significant strain on the TON blockchain. Developers fear that the surge in transactions could lead to service interruptions, as seen in previous incidents.
The influx of transactions has already caused a temporary halt in block production on the TON blockchain, a challenge the team is determined to overcome.
TOKEN2049 Conference to Feature TADA’s Service Promotion
TADA and the TON Foundation are launching this service at the highly anticipated TOKEN2049 crypto conference in Singapore, where they will offer 4,000 free rides from September 14 to September 18. This global event, expected to host over 20,000 attendees, is seen as a key platform for promoting the integration of Web3 technologies into mainstream services like ride-hailing.
Harvey Kim, Head of Korea at the TON Foundation, emphasized that partnerships with established Web2 platforms like TADA are essential for speeding up the adoption of Web3 solutions.
TON Blockchain’s Rapid Growth and Future Outlook
Despite recent disruptions, TON’s blockchain network is experiencing rapid growth. In-game revenue for Catizen has surpassed $20 million, and the platform now boasts over 750,000 paying users from a total player base of 33 million. TON developers remain committed to solving technical challenges and preparing the network for mass adoption, especially as daily active user addresses exceed 1.1 million and single-day transactions peak at 14.4 million.
As TON continues to expand, both developers and users are keenly watching how the blockchain will handle increased activity during airdrop season, as well as the broader push toward Web3 adoption.
